You need to know both the laws and the rules of the road. The police and ICBC require you to follow the laws. The rules fill in the gaps. Other driver's expect you to follow the rules. Both the laws and the rules have their grey areas. Thats when you have to do something contradictory. Being a good driver means you know how the laws and rules apply to driving.
